The Story of My Work
I’ve been working with ceramics for almost 25 years.
The aesthetics and philosophies of Asian cultures remain a constant source of inspiration for me.
Over the years, my travels and participation in workshops around the world have shaped and refined a style that I continuously develop through new knowledge and experience.
My Creative Process
My name is Dejan Zajec, and I’m from Ljubljana.
I’ve always been drawn to art, nature, and design. Working with clay allows me to turn ideas into something tangible and lasting.
I like blending traditional craftsmanship with my own creative expression. Each piece reflects my personal style and is part of my search for harmony between the softness of clay and the character of glaze. In my work, I focus on forms, textures, and the simple beauty found in everyday life.
My Shop
Every piece I create is handmade. Although they may look similar at first glance, each piece is unique.
In the online store, the products are marked with numbers, and a general description applies to all of them. You're welcome to browse – perhaps one of the pieces will find its new home.
You're also warmly welcome to visit me in my studio, where you'll find many more items that aren’t listed online. I'd be happy to show you around!
Gift Card
Give your loved ones a Dan Clay Design gift card for online shop and let them choose what they really want.
Dialogue with Clay
In my studio, I offer workshops and individual lessons in pottery wheel throwing, suitable for both beginners and those with some experience.
Workshops take place in small groups, providing plenty of space for personal guidance and questions. We will cover the basics of working with clay, explore different shaping techniques, and take a closer look at wheel throwing – from centering and shaping to the steps that lead to the finished piece.
If you prefer a more in-depth approach or learning at your own pace, individual lessons are also available, where the content is tailored to your knowledge, interests, and goals.
Every session working with clay is an opportunity to connect with the material, work with your hands, and explore your own creativity.
For more information about available dates, please don’t hesitate to contact me – I’ll be happy to help.
The beauty of ceramics lies in its imperfections.
